Senior Housing Options' THE ODD COUPLE to Run 7/23-8/22

By:

"The Odd Couple (Female Version)," written by Neil Simon and directed by Edith Weiss, is the eighth annual summer theater fundraiser for Senior Housing Options (SHO), a non-profit organization providing quality affordable housing and services for 500 adults in Colorado. The production is SHO's major -- and only -- annual fundraiser and builds on the success of past runs such as "On Golden Pond" (2014), "Steel Magnolias" (2013), and "Driving Miss Daisy" (2012).

Our all-star cast and crew is led by award-winning actor, playwright, and director Edith Weiss, who joins SHO for her first season directing SHO's summer production.

We are also thrilled to welcome well-known actor Leslie O'Carroll, a veteran of the DCPA and an Ovation Award winner, and Sharon Kay White, who has appeared in 14 productions at The Arvada Center, as Olive Madison and Florence Ungar, respectively. Rounding out the cast are Rory Pierce as Manolo, Jason Maxwell as Jesus, Judy Phelan Hill as Vera, Gina Wencel as Mickey, Susie Scott as Renee, and Lindsey Pierce as Sylvie.

In Simon's adaptation of his own play "The Odd Couple," Ungar and Madison are at it again. Florence Ungar and Olive Madison, that is, in Neil Simon's hilarious contemporary comic classic: the female version of "The Odd Couple." Instead of the poker party that begins the original version, Olive has invited her gal pals over to her unabashedly messy apartment for a game of Trivial Pursuit. Her Type-A neat freak friend, Florence, finds herself in desperate need of a place to stay... and hilarity ensues!

"The Odd Couple (Female Version)" performs in the historic lobby of The Barth Hotel (1514 17th St.) in the heart of downtown Denver. The Barth is one of SHO's 13 residences and is home to 62 elderly and disabled adults. The play opens Thursday, July 23 and runs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. through August 22. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $35 for preferred seating. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit www.seniorhousingoptions.org or call 303-595-4464 x10
