Singin' in the Rain is coming to the PACE Center Mainstage from September 25th through October 11th. This timeless classic is a show for the ages, and co-producers Parker Arts and Inspire Creative have kept the idea of time at the core of their production.

Singin' in the Rain takes place in The Roaring 20's during the time period in which movies were moving from silent film to full blown sound! So naturally, the set was inspired by 1920's art deco, and the costumes have been stylized to match the fashion of that period as well.

Jumping ahead three decades, the iconic MGM movie musical version of Singin' in the Rain starring Gene Kelly premiered in 1952 during the Golden Age of Hollywood. So, Inspire Creative is paying tribute to the glamour and glitz of the 1950's movie era. The choreography promises tap numbers that honor Kelly's famous dance routine, complete with twirling umbrellas, puddles, and Parker's favorite... lamp posts.

But Parker Arts and Inspire Creative have brought this enduring story into the twentieth century. Just as Warner Brothers' Vitaphone and the Fox-Movietone changed the film industry of the 1920's, modern technology has allowed new elements to be brought to this contemporary stage production. To bring the rain scene to life, the stage crew will be constructing a self-contained sprinkler system to produce real rain. High-tech cameras and software will be used to create films for the production which will then be edited to create an aged effect to emulate films of the 1920's. State-of-the-art microphones will be attached to performers' shoes so the audience doesn't miss a single tap.

It's been nearly 100 years since the time period in which this story takes place, but Singin' in the Rain has undoubtedly stood the test of time, and thanks to Parker Arts, Inspire Creative, and a talented cast, it will delight audiences both old and young this fall.

Singin' in the Rain is directed by Amy Osatinski, and is showing at the PACE Center September 25-October 11. Tickets are $25/$20. For tickets or more information visit www.ParkerArts.org or call the Box Office at 303.805.6800.
