National Kids to Parks Day Held May 21

By: May. 17, 2011

The National Park Trust, a nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of our nation's critical parklands and reconnecting our youth, will launch their first National Kids to parks Day on May 21, 2011.

National Kids to Parks Day empowers kids and encourages families to get outdoors and visit America's parks. It is important to introduce a new generation to our nation's parks because of the decline in Park attendance over the last decades. National Kids to Parks Day is open to all children and adults across the country to encourage children to lead a more active lifestyle to combat the issues of childhood obesity, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and hypercholesterolemia. National Kids
to Parks Day will broaden children's appreciation for nature and the outdoors.

Mayor Barry McCullough and the Gladstone City Council invite you to attend the dedication of the new play structure at Happy Rock Park-East, 76th and NE Antioch Road on Saturday, May 21st at 10:00 A.M. This playground was funded through a partial grant from the Land Water Conservation Fund and the Capital Improvement Fund of the city.

The new interactive play structure has proven to be very popular and will be a real treat for children.
