NAHF Hosts Double Spinner 5/4

By: Apr. 12, 2011

Northglenn, CO ¾ The Northglenn Arts and Humanities Foundation (NAHF) will host a dedication ceremony for the 2009/2010 People's Choice Award-winning sculpture, "Double Spinner" Wednesday, May 4 in the roundabout at Melody Drive and Kennedy Drive at 5:30 p.m. Parking is available at the Northglenn Market Place. The public is invited to attend and light refreshments will be served.

The sculpture was part of Northglenn's Art on Parade program before it won "The Peoples Choice" award. The program features on-loan, outdoor sculpture exhibited at E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park for one year. The public votes for their favorite, and NAHF works toward purchasing the piece for permanent display in the City of Northglenn.

"Double Spinner" is copper and stainless steel, is 16' high, and was purchased for $6,000. Lyman Whitaker has been creating Kinetic Wind SculpturesTM for the past 25 years. His work has been installed in public spaces around the United States where it naturally interacts with and compliments organic outdoor spaces in diverse environments. Lyman's Wind MachinesTM are entirely driven by the moving air around them.
