Miners Alley Opens PARALLEL LIVES Tonight in Golden
With boundless humor, "Parallel Lives" reexamines the ongoing quest to find parity and love in a contest handicapped by capricious gods-or in this case, goddesses. We are pleased to reunite the original cast: two women playing 36 different characters.
In the opening scene, two Supreme Beings plan the beginning of the world with the relish of two slightly sadistic suburban wives decorating a living room. From this moment, the audience is whisked through the outrageous universe of Kathy and Mo, where two actresses play men and women struggling through the common rituals of modern life: teenagers on a date, sisters at their grandmother's funeral, a man and a woman together in a country-western bar.
On March 12, 2011the Evergreen Players' production of "Parallel Lives" took top honors at the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) Regional Theater Festival and went on to the National Festival in Rochester, New York, in June of that same year. This production reprises the award-winning collaboration with Evergreen Players that went on to be performed, by invitation, for the US armed forces as the showcase event at the International Theater Festival in Heidelberg, Germany.
With Mo Gaffney, Kathy Najimy starred in and wrote The Kathy and Mo Show, her long running off Broadway play (Obie Award) --- which was later filmed for 2 HBO specials: Parallel Lives (2 Ace awards and an American Comedy Award Nomination) and Kathy & Mo: The Dark Side, (Cable Ace Awards for both her roles as actor and Executive Producer and American Comedy Award nom.)
