CRT Presents Indigenous Film & Arts Festival, 9/6
Creede Repertory Theatre is honored to host a preview of the 7th Annual Indigenous Film & Arts Festival. Traditionally shown in Denver, join CRT for the Festival's debut in Creede on Monday, September 6, 2010 at 7:00pm. Two North American films will be shown with wine and cheese served during intermission.
In Reel Injun, Cree filmmaker Neil Diamond takes an entertaining and insightful look at the Hollywood Indian, exploring the portrayal of North American Indians through a century of cinema. Reel Injun is followed by, Echoes of Ancient Voices, which presents a behind the scenes look of a symphonic tone poem composed by Randall Craig Fleischer. The project fuses traditional song and dance of Indigenous peoples of the United States with New England sea shanties and western classical music.
Presented by the International Institute for Indigenous Resource Management, the Festival is the only collaboration of its kind in Colorado, displaying artistic works and films from indigenous peoples from around the world. Tickets are available for $19.00 by calling CRT at 719.658.2540. For film festival information please contact, Jeanne Rubin at jeannerubin@iiirm.org.
