Bovine Metropolis Theater to Present GEEK OUT IN THE TEACHER'S LOUNGE, 9/13-11/22

By:

Have you ever wanted to learn everything about Greek Mythology in one sitting, or what about discovering every detail of Marvel Comics? Are you obsessed with HIMYM, How I Met Your Mother? If you even answered maybe to these questions, you'll love Bovine Metropolis Theater's newest show, Geek Out In The Teacher's Lounge.

Every week a new expert, or "geek" in a very specific field will teach the audience and improvisers every last detail they know about a piece of pop culture, and the performers will improvise a hilarious and distinctly informed show on the subject. As any professor who's ever told a knock knock joke can tell you, laughter makes learning easier. And just like a professor is thrilled about their subject, so are these geeks.

"I love the idea of learning about someone's hobby or passion every week,' said Artistic Director, Eric Farone. "You get a glimpse into a world that you didn't know existed and you get to geek out with others. I think true geeks are always craving knowledge and looking for new things that others are passionate about. I am a geek."

One of the best parts of the show is simply watching someone who's deeply excited about a very specific segment of cultural history and get excited about it on stage. When a friend is jumping around and waving their hands around while they explain the history of Pogs, that in itself is a form of entertainment.

"The thing that I'm most looking for is some infectious excitement," said Improviser Kent Welborn. "Like you know when you talk to someone about something that they just truly love and are so immersed in that they just can't hold themselves back. They spill everything and are so excited about the subject that it's palpable and contagious."

Geek Out In The Teacher's Lounge will be a celebration of knowledge and comedy, that's full of excitement, details, and hysterical moments of improvisation. It will be a place where it's not only safe, but encouraged to get nerdy and indulge in the finer moments of trivia. Geek Out In The Teacher's Lounge is an event where you get to fly your geek flag proud and high.

Geek Out In The Teacher's Lounge plays Friday nights at 8:00 p.m. and opens Friday, September 13th through November 22nd. There is no show on October 18th. Tickets are $16 (at door) $14 (pre-paid)

Bovine Metropolis Theater is the first dedicated school and theater for improvisation in the region and teaches the art of accepting the unknown gracefully. For more information about Bovine Metropolis Theater, call 303-758-4722 or visit their web site at www.bovinemetropolis.com.
