BALLS! A HOLIDAY SPECTACULAR to Play Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret in December
The sixth annual "BALLS! A Holiday Spectacular" performs Mondays, December 8 and 15 at 7:00pm at Lannie's Clocktower Cabaret, 1601 Arapahoe in Denver. Doors open at 6:00pm.
Hosted by GerRee Hinshaw, Emily K. Harrison, Jim Ruberto and Mare Trevathan, "BALLS!" is an irreverent, fun, good-hearted variety show. Every audience member is issued a sock puppet for the evening and sing-a-longs and games feature prominently. Guest stars include celebrated musicians John Common and Jess DeNicola, Jen Korte, storyteller Adam Goldstein, drag artist Luke List and comedians Sarah Kirwin and Eric Mather.
Proceeds from "BALLS!" go to a different non-profit every year. The 2014 beneficiary is the Denver Actors Fund, a non-profit providing financial and situational relief to members of the Denver theater community when they encounter medical emergencies.
When a local actor (or any theater worker) literally breaks a leg, gets a devastating diagnosis, requires surgery, needs medical supplies or loses a loved one, the Denver Actors Fund responds with a helping hand. In addition to offering money, the Fund and its 60-plus army of volunteers provide meals, transportation, child and pet care, and more.
One of the BALLS was recently on the receiving end of the Denver Actors Fund's good neighborliness. And that just goes to prove that you never know when you are going to be the next one in need. None of us ever do.
