August Events Announced At Voodoo Comedy Playhouse

As Denver's best home for comedy and improv theater, The Voodoo Comedy Playhouse has a packed schedule for July. Offering shows five nights a week (Tuesday through Saturday) with a full bar that opens 30-mins prior to each performance, The Voodoo Comedy Playhouse is one of the hottest spots in town. Pro Play: August 11th at 9:00 PM: One of our most popular monthly improv teams! The only thing this group loves more than improvising scenes is making fun of each other in these hilarious scenes! Pro Play takes an audience suggestion and runs with that to improvise scenes. The twist, mid scene they will break to evaluate what is going on in the scene and really call each other out to have fun! Always a crowd pleaser, Pro Play features some of Denver's most talented improvisors.

The Munthly Show - August 23rd at 8:00 PM: Get ready for some puppet madness! Munthly and his puppet pals perform the improv you've seen like you've never seen before. This fast-paced show features some of Denver's quickest minds and strongest hands with special guests, surprise cameos, and lots and lots of characters.

Professor Phelyx, >From the Vest - August 25th at 8:00 PM: Professor Phelyx, From the Vest is a 60-minute experience that possesses all of the intimate charms of a Victorian-era parlor show. Professor Phelyx even performs a lot right in the audience, offering every attendee the opportunity to witness incredible feats up-close! During this highly interactive show, participants will experience unique performances of mental magic and comedy. Just imagine mind-reading, psycho-kinetic metal bending, predictions and even what can only be explained as superbly undetectable sleight-of-hand that is all presented within inches of the audience. Truly unforgettable and baffling demonstrations await every guest! Enhancing the intimacy of this laugh-a-minute show, Professor Phelyx not only demonstrates the best of his 36-year career, he also recounts outrageous and bizarre stories that have guided the direction of his character and career; including the absolute truth about how he started and continues to perfect his odd, seemingly supernatural skills. The audience leaves feeling the balance of both a healthy dose of skepticism and the euphoric sensation that anything is possible!

Drop-In Improv Class: Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:00 PM. No commitment necessary! Just learn the tips from some of Denver's best. $5 at the door.

Makeshift Shakespeare: Friday nights at 8:00 PM. Enjoy the absurdity of Shakespeare's comedies, the misfortune of his tragedies and the yesteryears of his histories as these brainy improvisers tell his stories in original weekly productions. $13 advance/$15 at the door.

Hit and Run: Musical Improv: Friday nights at 9:00 PM. Denver's original unscripted musical comedy team hits the stage every Friday night with brand new musicals based on audience suggestions. You'll enjoy an hour-long Broadway-style comedic event, completely created from scratch on stage. $13 advance/$15 door.

The Duel: Saturday nights at 10:00 PM. Denver's only improv cagematch! Hosted by Hot Nap, The Duel is a weekly competition show that pits two improv teams against each other in an all-out battle for first place comedic gold! $8 advance/$10 door.
