Phoenix Traditional Music and Dance Inc.

Phoenix Traditional Music & Dance (PHXTMD), also known as the Center for Traditional Music and Dance, is a volunteer-run community organization presenting traditional social dance events across the Phoenix metro area. It runs a Fourth Friday contra dance at the Irish Cultural Center and McClelland Library Great Hall on North Central Avenue in Phoenix and a Second Saturday contra dance at the Greek Orthodox Church Community Center in Chandler, each with live callers and bands and a beginners' lesson half an hour before the dance starts. English Country Dance sessions are held separately on morning dates at the Irish Cultural Center. The group also hosts special events and an annual Winter Frolic weekend, plus virtual events. Dances use gender-free calling, admission is sliding scale with children under 10 free, and no partner or experience is needed. Programs are supported in part by the Arizona Commission on the Arts.
