Segerstrom Center Presents GUYS AND DOLLS, Now thru 4/19

By:

Bustling with gamblers, gangsters and sassy showgirls, GUYS AND DOLLS plays in Orange County at Segerstrom Center for the Arts from tonight, April 14 - 19, 2015. The musical celebrates Broadway's golden era with a score by the legendary Frank Loesser and a masterfully witty book and lyrics by Joe Swerling and comedy legend Abe Burrows. GUYS AND DOLLS is based on the glorious Damon Runyon comic book world of 1940s Times Square New York City.

Single tickets start at $29 and may be purchased online at SCFTA.org, the Box Office at 600 Town Center Drive in Costa Mesa or by calling (714) 556-2787. For inquiries about group ticket savings for 10 or more, call the Group Services office at (714) 755-0236. The TTY number is (714) 556-2746. The 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, April 18 will include audio description, open captioning and sign-language interpretation.

GUYS AND DOLLS originally conquered Broadway in 1951, running for more than 1,200 performances and winning five Tony Awards®, including Best New Musical. The show earned four additional Tony Awards in 1992, including Best Revival of a Musical. The New York Times calls it "the show that defines Broadway dazzle!"

Considered by many to be the perfect musical comedy, GUYS AND DOLLS introduces audiences to a cast of characters who have become legends in the musical theater world: Sarah Brown, the upright but uptight "mission doll," out to reform the evil-doers of Times Square; Sky Masterson, the slick, high-rolling gambler who woos her on a bet to Cuba and ends up falling in love; Adelaide, the chronically ill nightclub performer whose condition is brought on by the fact she's been engaged to the same man for 14 years; and Nathan Detroit, her devoted fiance?, desperate as always to find a spot for his infamous floating crap game.

Frank Loesser's toe-tapping score, including fan favorites such as "Luck Be a Lady," "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat" and "I've Never Been in Love Before" is the perfect musical complement to Runyon's colorful characters.

GUYS AND DOLLS is produced by Big League Productions. Led by President and Executive Producer Daniel Sher, Big League is celebrating its 26th season of producing, general managing and booking Broadway musicals and special attractions for touring throughout North America and the world.
