Directed by David Watson, Molière's Tartuffe takes place in Paris in the 1600s and follows the title character as he fools the people around him, especially the protagonist, Orgon, into believing he is highly moral and deeply religious, while scheming his way into Orgon's family.

Watson describes Tartuffe a satirical indictment of the religious hypocrisy of the day, and says that the play was so controversial when it first appeared that Louis XIV felt the need to suppress the play for several years in order to avoid instability. "Laughter is the best critique, and like so many of Molière's social targets, Tartuffe continues to speak to today's audience by tickling the funny bone," said Watson.

Hartt Actor Training majors appearing in Tartuffe include Sophia Watt of Seattle, WA, as MME Pernelle; Benjamin Cole of Charlottesville, VA, as Orgon; Morgan Hammel of Hollywood, FL, as Elmire; Alex Saffer of Bronx, NY, ad Damis; Annie Bradford of Kalamazoo, MI, as Mariane; Mark Ford of Okotoks, AB, Canada, as Valere; Timothy Rizzo of North Kingston, RI, as Cleante; Sal Zullo of Bronx, NY, as Tartuffe; Alana Fallis of Happauge, NY, as Dorine; Tom Rash of Rockport, MA, as M.
