Stamford's Maureen Pavia to Host Breakfast at the Palace July 19
On Tuesday, July 19 at 9:00am, First Lady of Stamford Maureen Pavia will host a Circle of Friends Breakfast at The Palace Theatre café prior to "A Glow-in-the-Dark Dinosaur Adventure". The breakfast for SCA's Circle of Friends Corporate and Individuals Members and guests will honor Arts Education Program Presenting Sponsors Purdue Pharma and RFR Realty and Producing Sponsor Pitney Bowes. Mrs. Pavia will also announce SCA's arts education lineup for the upcoming year. Fairway Market is sponsoring this breakfast which will feature children's activities and fun for all age groups.
The exciting lineup for this season includes everything from "Voices and Visions," a Young Choreographers Festival, to an in school time performance of the popular children's books "Goodnight Moon" and "The Runaway Bunny". SCA will also present "Next Generation" which will benefit and feature the performers from several community arts organizations including the Ballet School of Stamford, Lumina String Quartet, Stamford Young Artists Philharmonic and Namaskaar Foundation, Inc./World on Stage. Other programs are in the process of being negotiated and will be announced as they are finalized.
"SCA continues to work with our local school systems in designing curriculum based programs and more in school time programming which engages students pre-K through high school in music, dance, theatre and literacy," said SCA Executive Director Elissa O. Getto. "On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, I want to thank all of our corporate and individual sponsors for your continued support of our growing community education programs."
SCA also will announce that Stamford Gives Back (SGB), a charitable foundation created by Mrs. Pavia, will begin operating under the auspices of SCA. Michael L. Widland, Chairman of SCA's Board of Directors said, "We are especially proud to announce that Stamford Gives Back, under the leadership of Stamford's own First Lady Maureen Pavia, will be making its home at the Palace. Mrs. Pavia's passion for arts education and her generosity in providing funding for so many organizations in Stamford makes this a perfect fit." All contributions to both groups are tax deductible to the full extent allowable under the law as SGB is now part of the SCA's 501 (c)(3) organization. Mrs. Pavia will continue to direct the SGB funds for her educational projects in partnership with the SCA educational programs.
"I am thrilled to be a part of SCA's Arts Education Program through my involvement with Stamford Gives Back," said Mrs. Pavia. "I wanted to start an organization that could help fund institutions and their education programs. SCA's dedication to providing arts education opportunities to the children of this community ties in so well with what I have wanted to do with Stamford Gives Back."
