Long Wharf Joins Connecticut Food Bank During IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

Long Wharf Theatre is partnering with the Connecticut Food Bank during the run of It's A Wonderful Life: A Radio Play, now playing through Dec. 31, to collect non-perishable food for the needy in the area.

"One of the subjects of It's a Wonderful Life is the importance of community and people helping one another. Working with the Connecticut Food Bank gives us another opportunity to make a tangible connection between what happens on our stages and what happens in the world around us," said Steve Scarpa, director of marketing and communications at Long Wharf Theatre.

People interested in donating can drop off food items at Long Wharf Theatre's Mainstage from 10 am to 6 pm or the evenings of performances Tuesday through Sunday. The Connecticut Food Bank is looking for particular items, including tuna and other canned meat, peanut butter, Chunky soups and beef stew, macaroni & cheese, spaghetti & sauce, rice, dry & canned beans, canned vegetables and fruits, powdered milk,100% fruit juice (cans, bottles, boxes), and items that are sugar free, low sodium and no salt.

The Connecticut Food Bank's mission is to alleviate hunger in Connecticut. The organization distributes food and other resources to approximately 600 local emergency food assistance programs in six of Connecticut's eight counties: Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham.
