Ohio State University to Launch Concert Series with Juliet White-Smith, 10/9

The School of Music introduces Wednesdays at 6, a new concert series featuring faculty and guest artists in a one-hour recital positioned during drive time as a convenience for the Ohio State campus community. The Wednesdays at 6 series kicks off with faculty artist concerts performed by Juliet White-Smith, October 9, and Karen Pierson, October 23.

School of Music Presents Faculty Artist Juliet White-Smith, viola, in concert Wednesday, October 9, at 6 pm in Weigel Hall Auditorium, 1866 College Rd.

White-Smith will perform a 60-minute program, including trios by Max Bruch and Paul Hindemith, and Benjamin Britten's Lachrymae (Reflections on a Song by Dowland) for viola and piano in celebration of the composer's 100th birthday. White-Smith also will be joined by her colleagues Caroline Hartig, clarinet; Caroline Hong, piano; Karen Pierson, bassoon; Edward Bak, piano; and Maria Staeblein, piano.

Karen Pierson, bassoon, will perform a faculty artist concert Wednesday, October 23, at 6 pm in Weigel Hall Auditorium, 1866 College Rd. Pierson will perform pieces by Gliere, Tansman, and Nussio, accompanied by pianist Maria Staeblein. Percussion faculty Susan Powell and Joseph Krygier will join Pierson on a premiere for percussion and bassoon, composed by Krygier.


Tickets are $10 general admission, $5 senior citizens, Alumni Association members, non-Ohio State students and children. FREE to all ConcertCard holders, Ohio State students, faculty and staff; 1 ticket per BuckID presented in person, subject to availability.
