Columbus Children's Theatre will present the Advanced Performance Academy production of Shrek The Musical JR. July 6-16 at the Park Street Theatre located at 512 Park Street. This production is directed by Ryan Scarlata. This production is performed by the Junior Ensemble (Ages 11-14) of the Advanced Performance Academy.
It's the movie you know and love in a hilarious one hour long adaption! Shrek The Musical JR. tells the story of an onion-like ogre named Shrek, the loveable but chatty Donkey, a Princess with a unique problem and so many other crazy characters. When Shrek finds his swamp taken over by fairytale creatures sent there by the ruler of Duloc, Lord Farquaad, he must go on a great quest to rescue the beautiful princess Fiona in exchange for this land back. Along the way this quirky duo finds friendship, true love, and how to let their "freak flag" fly creating a hysterical and meaningful show the whole family will enjoy.
The Advanced Performance Academy is Columbus Children's Theatres premiere intensive training program for students ages 8 to 18. This production is performed by the Junior Ensemble of the Advanced Performance Academy, students ages 11-14. These students will have spent four weeks putting this show together before thetwo week run. The weeks spent at the academy provide students with an opportunity to combine their preexisting knowledge of theatre with new knowledge provided to them by a team of theatre specialists to produce a professional level show.
