Seeking Stage Manager for Full-Length Play - A Therapy Session with Myself

STAGE MANAGER FOR NEW FULL-LENGTH PLAY

We are currently seeking a non-union stage manager for A Therapy Session with Myself, a new full-length drama about dealing with social anxiety, depression, and Asperger’s syndrome, premiering in mid-January at the Hudson Guild Theatre as part of the New York Theatre Festival’s 2019 NYWinterfest. Please carefully read below, for more details.



About the play:

A Therapy Session with Myself tells the story of Alex Grayson, a young college student and aspiring writer suffering from severe social anxiety, depression and Asperger’s syndrome. During the summer before his senior year, he receives a mysterious visit from "himself", a human incarnation of his inner consciousness. As they interact, Alex is forced to reflect on his own flaws and personality quirks, as well as some of the darkest and most painful memories of his adolescence, while also pondering the question of whether or not he can overcome his many inner demons, and ultimately build a brighter future for himself.



Responsibilities include:

• Attending and assisting with auditions in late-October

• Keeping a contact list for the producer, director, and actors

• Keeping regular email correspondence with the producer, director, and actors

• Attending and running all rehearsals and keeping rehearsal reports

• Notifying actors of upcoming rehearsals and other important deadlines

• Notifying actors, as needed, who are late or missing during rehearsals and/or performances

• Making sure all props, costumes, and set pieces are pre-set for each performance

• Running light and sound during tech rehearsal and performances



In order to be eligible, all candidates:

• Must have a positive and professional attitude

• Must be available for auditions

• Must be available on weekdays for afternoon rehearsals beginning November 7th

• Must be available for tech rehearsal and performances on January 15th, 16th and 19th

• Must live in New York City, or be able to provide their own transportation to auditions, rehearsals and performances in NYC

• Must have prior experience in stage management

• While not required, preference will be given to candidates with a BA or BFA in Theatre or Stage Management



Please note this is a non-union position. A $100 stipend is available as payment once the performance run has ended in January.



Auditions will be held on October 22nd and 23rd from 12pm-4:30pm at the Dramatists Guild Foundation’s Music Hall at 356 W 40th Street, New York, NY.



Rehearsals will begin on November 7th, and will usually be held from 1-4pm. They will usually be held either at the Dramatists Guild Foundation’s Music Hall; the Players Theatre at 115 Macdougal Street, New York, NY; and Brooklyn Public Library at 10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY. (NOTE: No rehearsals from November 20-23 and December 24-29.)



Tech rehearsal and performances will be at the Hudson Guild Theatre (441 W 26th Street, New York, NY). Tech rehearsal will be on January 15th from 8:15am-1:15pm, with performances on January 15th at 9pm, January 16th at 6:15pm & January 19th at 3:30pm.
