This series is designed for those students who want to work with some of the greatest and most influential Music Directors working on Broadway. This class is for those who want to better themselves and get their audition pieces in top shape and work on material from shows.





STEPHEN BROOKER was musical director and conductor for Universal Pictures’ film of Les Misérables. He is currently musical supervisor of Half A Sixpence (CFT & London), Les Misérables (London, Tokyo and Toronto) Miss Saigon (New York, London and Tokyo), Mary Poppins (Vienna), Barnum (UK Tour). He was musical director of The Woman in White, My Fair Lady, Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Lautrec, Cats, The Secret Garden and South Pacific. Musical supervision includes Barnum (CFT), Mary Poppins (Australia, London and UK Tour), The Phantom of the Opera 25th Anniversary Performance (DVD), Betty Blue Eyes, Les Miserables 25th Anniversary Concert (O2 Arena), OLIVER! (Londonand UK Tour) My Fair Lady (USA and London), Les Misérables (New York revival 2006), Cats, Hair, Miss Saigon, Carmen Jones, ThePhantom of the Opera, Grease, Fame, Saturday Night Fever, Peter Pan and Chess. He was musical consultant for the Les Misérables 25th Anniversary Tour and conducted the Classical Brit Awards (2011).



CARMEL DEAN is a Composer, Arranger, Musical Director and Pianist. She was most recently the Musical Director/Conductor of the Broadway musical If/Then starring Idina Menzel, and was Music Supervisor of the subsequent National Tour. Other Broadway credits include Hands on a Hardbody , American Idiot , and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee . Off-Broadway credits include Everyday Rapture, Vanities and Elegies – A Song Cycle by William Finn. International credits include Chicago (Hong Kong) and the 2000 Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies (Sydney). Carmel has also served as Chita Rivera’s Musical Director for many national and international appearances, and she performed with Green Day on the Grammy Awards in 2010. As a composer, her work includes A Girl Called Vincent with Dick Scanlan; the YouTube series Project: Song Blog; music for the Disney TV show Johnny & the Sprites; and Songs of Innocence & Experience (co-composed with William Finn, Deborah Abramson, Vadim Feichtner & Gi-hieh Lee.)





Class 1: Monday, February 27th



11am-2pm



Students will work on material one-on-one with Carmel Dean. Bring in a piece you commonly use for auditions. We also strongly encourage actors to bring in a piece from one of the shows Carmel has worked on. There will be a Q & A if time allows.





Class 2: Monday, March 6th



11am-2pm



Students will work on material one-on-one with Stephen Brooker - (Music Supervisor - Miss Saigon and Les Miserables). Students will present a cut from their book. There will be a Q & A if time allows.





Class 3: Monday, March 13th



11am-2pm



Students will work on material one-on-one with Stephen Brooker - (Music Supervisor - Miss Saigon and Les Miserables). Students will work on material from Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, Phantom of the Opera, Half a Sixpence, Mary Poppins, or My Fair Lady all of which Stephen was Music Supervisor for. There will be a Q & A if time allows.

Rate:

$295 for new students

$280 for returning students
