The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park will host a free reading of a new play about Cincinnati music pioneer Syd Nathan and King Records. CINCINNATI KING, a "theatrical album" of stories about the history of Cincinnati music, racial equality and the legendary rhythm and blues label, will be presented in the Playhouse's Thompson Shelterhouse on Saturday, Aug. 31, at 7:00 p.m.

15-year-old Melissa Campbell will be playing the title role of CARRIE in the Showbiz Players production of the regional premiere of CARRIE: THE MUSICAL. Melissa is a sophomore at Wyoming High School and has been participating in musical theater since the age of 9. She will play the part of Carrie White, a bullied and abused teenager who discovers within her the power to strike back.

This production is directed by Michael Evan Haney and features CSC Resident Ensemble members Jeremy Dubin, Sara Clark and Jim Hopkins. Oliver Twist is played by Ethan Verderber in his CSC debut. Bring your family and find out for yourself when a 1/50 scale-model LEGO replica of Cincinnati's iconic landmark goes on display in the Music Hall Foyer from August 4-9, 2013. Built and designed by local LEGO enthusiast, Mark Clark, the model is 100 inches wide by 106 inches deep by 42 inches high. Clark constructed the model to replicate Music Hall as it existed in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Toil and Trouble by Lauren Gunderson will open July 26, 2013 and run through August 24, 2013. This regional premiere is the second production following the play's world premiere at Impact Theatre in Berkeley, California. The cast is comprised of Breona Conrad, Joshua Murphy, and Chris Wesselman and is directed by Know Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Eric Vosmeier with lighting and scenic design by Andrew Hungerford, sound Design by Doug Borntrager, and costume design by Noelle Wedig.
