Cincinnati Playhouse Tours BIRD BRAIN, Now thru 5/23

The Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park's popular Off the Hill series for families wraps up its 2014-15 season with Vern Thiessen's BIRD BRAIN, a charming and funny fable full of laughs and the lesson that strange behavior isn't always foolish. Recommended for ages 5 and up, BIRD BRAIN will tour to community venues throughout the Tristate from tonight, April 10 through May 23.

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company continues its season with the much anticipated return of the audience favorite, 'The Taming of the Shrew' by William Shakespeare. This production is directed by Kevin Hammond, Artistic Director of Humber River Shakespeare in Toronto making his CSC debut. Not just a ballet but also an adventure into a mystical world full of wonder, no pun intended. Cincinnati's Ballet Company took on a behemoth of a story bringing alive the magical world of Wonderland as we followed Alice through her dream. As phenomenal as the dancers were, the true accolades go to the production staff. The designers used technical ingenuities never seen applied to a ballet before, or at least not by me.

The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of its Overture Awards Competition, held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater, and the winner of its new Arts Educator Award for Excellence in Arts Instruction. The competition awarded $4,000 to six area students for education and training, with 18 runners-up each winning $1,000, while the Arts Educator Award winner received $2,500 and two finalists were awarded $500 each.

The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) has secured the rights to present the Tony Award-winning musical blockbuster American Idiot as part of its 2015-16 Mainstage Series.
