Beck Dance Education Presents SLEEPING BEAUTY, 4/27-29

Beck Center's Dance Workshop and Dance Education program will present an encore production of a condensed version of Tchaikovsky's classic ballet Sleeping Beauty April 27 through 29 in the Recital Hall of the Music-Armory Building at the Beck Center for the Arts. Show times are 7 p.m. Friday, 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, and 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are on sale now.
Overture Awards 2012 Essay Contest Winner Announced

The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) has announced Caroline Lembright as the winner of its Overture Awards Essay Contest 2012: "An Underground Railroad Traveler." Caroline, chosen by four judges who are professional writers/historians/teachers, will be awarded a $250 prize for her essay, "Someone to Watch Over Me."

Beck Center for the Arts will present the regional premiere of The Velocity of Autumn by Cleveland's most prolific playwright Eric Coble, March 23 through April 29, 2012 in the Studio Theater. There are no performances the weekend of April 6 through 8. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are now on sale.
New Edgecliff Theatre Holds Luck of the Irish Casino Night Fundraiser, 3/17

New Edgecliff Theatre continues the Irish flair of its recent production of "St. Nicholas" with its Annual "Luck of the Irish" Casino Night from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday March 17. Enjoy an evening of fun and excitement featuring Black Jack, Poker and Roulette. There will also be a silent auction, a blind raffle and a split-the-pot reverse raffle. Admission includes appetizers, cash bar (wine & beer) and $25 in casino chips. All proceeds benefit New Edgecliff Theatre's Operating Fund.

Called the Club of Jacksons, Know Theatre hopes to raise 1,120 Jacksons ($20 bills), all of which will become the Production Sponsorship for Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson (March 31-May 12, 2012).
CSC's GRAPES OF WRATH Opens 3/30

Cincinnati Shakespeare Company continues its eighteenth season with John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" in an adaptation by Frank Galati. This production features CSC Ensemble Members Justin McCombs, Sherman Fracher and Drew Fracher and is directed by Brian Isaac Phillips. "The Grapes of Wrath" opens on March 30th and runs through April 29, 2012. The production design is generously sponsored by AAA.

Know Theatre announces its next mainstage production, the Afghan Women's Writing Project (AWWP). Know Theatre commissioned playwrights Elizabeth Martin & Lauren Hynek to curate a performance piece from the writings available on the project website (www.awwproject.org). Ms. Martin & Ms. Hynek will also co-direct the piece. The staged reading will show March 8 - March 11, 2012. Following the Friday, March 9 performance, Executive Director Elizabeth Lehr of The Afghan Women's Writing Project will lead a post-show discussion.
