Theo Ubique Cabaret Presents STARTING HERE, STARTING NOW, Previews 9/23

By:

Theo Ubique Cabaret Theatre announces cast and crew for the first production of its 2011/12 season, "Starting Here, Starting Now," opening Sunday, September 25 and running through November 6. Previews are September 23 and 24.

Theo Ubique's "Starting Here, Starting Now" features exhilarating music, poignant lyrics and a timeless theme, set in a 1970's bachelor/bachelorette "pad." Performed by a cast of three in the intimate, 60-seat setting of the No Exit Café in Rogers Park, this is more than just an evening of songs. Each number is played out as its own dramatic event as the young characters find love, lose it and find it again. Written by Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire, the show provides a showcase for the three singers with many memorable tunes including, of course, Starting Here, Starting Now.

Director is Fred Anzevino, Theo Ubique's Artistic Director. Music director is six-time Jeff Award winner Eugene Dizon. Choreographer is Maggie Portman, Jeff nominated for her choreography of Theo Ubique's Cabaret in 2009.

Returning to the Theo Ubique stage are Stephanie Herman and Hilary Patingre. Teddy Boone performs with Theo Ubique for the first time.

Crew members are: Adam Veness, set designer; Michael Nardulli, lighting designer; Raquel Adorno, costume designer; and Rachael Holiday, stage manager.

Performance times are: Opening Night 7:00 p.m.; Thursdays 7:30 p.m.; Fridays & Saturdays 8:00 p.m.; Sundays 7:00 p.m. at the No Exit Café, 6970 N. Glenwood in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. Doors open, dinner is served and the complimentary shuttle van from the parking lot begins operating 90 minutes prior to curtain.

The No Exit Café is near the Morse stop on the Red Line. Free parking is available at the corner of Morse and Ravenswood. Special discounts will be offered through Theo Ubique e-news announcements, which are available by signing up through the web site.
