Fox Valley Rep and Fox Valley Troop Support Collect Donations to Help Troops

By:

Through Fox Valley Repertory's "FVR Give$ Back" program, they have partnered with the Fox Valley Troop Support, Inc. of St. Charles to collect donations during Breaking Up is Hard to Do performances to help support U.S. military service members deployed overseas by sending care packages, letters and by providing support for families of deployed troops. Patrons will have the opportunity to contribute to the cause after each performance at the Pheasant Run Resort Mainstage March 29 through May 20, 2012.

The funds raised for Fox Valley Troop Support, Inc. (FVTS) will go towards the cost of sending care packages to troops and their families. Last year, over $9,000 was spent on postagealone.

Sarah Giachino, FVTS Co-Founder and St. Charles Resident, is grateful for this fundraising partnership with Fox Valley Repertory. She also encourages the Fox Valley Area to take their efforts one step further.

"A simple gesture of reaching out and writing a note of thanks and appreciation can make huge difference in the morale of our deployed men and women in uniform," says Sarah. "Despite the mission ending in Iraq, the US continues to deploy our military thousands of miles overseas to a dangerous combat zone. FVTS continues to hear over and over again how much it means to our service members when they hear from the folks back home, and sometimes, we even hear back with an unexpected letter of appreciation."

When patrons come to Fox Valley Rep to enjoy the Neil Sedaka musical titled Breaking Up is Hard to Do, they will have a chance to contribute to this cause after the show.

Breaking Up is Hard to Do runs Thursday, March 29, 2012 through Sunday, May 20, 2012. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; Sundays at 2 p.m. Thursday performances are available on March 29 and April 5 at 8pm; and April 12, 26 and May 17 at 2pm. The show is rated PG. Tickets are priced at $32 on Fridays (and limited Thursday performances), and at $42 on Saturdays and Sundays. Dinner packages, group rates and overnight packages are also available.

Proceeds collected will also benefit Fox Valley Repertory and will help productions such as their upcoming Memorial Day tribute called Letters Home, in which FVTS is also proud to be a part of. With performances scheduled for May 25 and 26 on the Pheasant Run Mainstage, Fox Valley Concert Band members together with Fox Valley Rep actors and FVTS will come together to honor soldiers of the past, present and future by reciting actual letters written home from local servicemen and women of the Fox Valley area. More information on this project can be found at www.foxvalleyrep.org/LettersHome.

The "FVR Give$ Back" program has raised over $10,000 for local charities. Interested local nonprofits can contact development@foxvalleyrep.org for partnership information.
