Chicago Dancemakers Forum Invites Proposals By Emerging Choreographers For 2018 GREENHOUSE Program Image

Chicago Dancemakers Forum encourages emerging choreographers to apply to the GREENHOUSE program, offered only once before. The program stimulates artistic growth and relationship building by providing $4,000 cash grants to artists for the development of new work with the support of a mentor. Applicants must each apply with the committed involvement of an established artist who is awarded $1,000 for their participation. The application closes May 7, 2018.

Four awardees will receive the GREENHOUSE grant in July 2018-along with rehearsal space, marketing, and group dialogue and response-to support their creative process as they develop new work over the course of three months. Artists will show their developing work on October 21, 2018 at the Chicago Cultural Center as a part of Elevate Chicago Dance - Investigating Dance, Space, Race, Place. Chicago Dancemakers Forum invites dancemaking artists who represent a broad diversity of dance discipline, age, race/ethnicity, and expressions of gender to apply.

Executive Director Ginger Farley says, "To have a thriving cultural landscape in Chicago we must support artists at all stages of development. There is such a rich pool of young dancemakers in Chicago right now, we are eager to engage with them as they develop new work in 2018."

For 15 years Chicago Dancemakers Forum has fueled the field of dance by supporting Chicago choreographers at key moments in their artistic development. For its 15th Anniversary, Chicago Dancemakers Forum reinstated the GREENHOUSE program, which first premiered in 2011.

Chicago Dancemakers Forum is the only organization in the city dedicated solely to nurturing artistic advancement for the dancemaking field. During this milestone year, Chicago Dancemakers Forum renews its commitment to Chicago's extraordinarily diverse dance communities by increasing awareness of dancemakers, strengthening partnerships, and providing more resources to artists.

Apply for the GREENHOUSE Program online.
