Champaign Urbana Theatre Presents ROCKY HORROR, 10/22

By:

The Champaign Urbana Theatre Company along with Dr. J. Barry Howell and The Buzz will present the second annual "In Concert" fundraiser of The Rocky Horror Show at the Canopy Club in Urbana on Oct. 22, 2011. The event will consist of three parts: an hour long concert version intended for 17 and under, a full "In Concert" version for ages 18 and up, and a late-night screening of the cult film after the concert.

To kick off the evening, the cast of the Champaign Urbana Theatre Company will perform a "gleeked" concert version of the musical for audience members age 17 and under, inspired by an episode of the hit musical comedy "Glee." Doors will open at 5 p.m., and the gleeked concert will begin at 6 p.m. Although this one-hour performance was created especially for a younger audience, those 17 and under must still be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Later that evening, the cast will hit the stage to perform the full "In Concert" version of The Rocky Horror Show for those 18 and up, followed by a "Dress Up as Your Favorite Rocky Character" costume contest, silent auction and late-night screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show movie. Audience participation is encouraged and goody bags will be for sale!

Doors open for the full "In Concert" version at 8:30 p.m., and the show begins at 9:30 p.m. The Rocky Horror Picture Show film will begin a half-hour after the concert. One ticket price covers both events!

The concert stars John Tilford (Narrator), Mike Evans (Brad), Allison Morse (Janet), Laura Anne Welle (Riff Raff), AriAnne Cohen (Magenta), Allison Kasbee (Columbia), Grant Morenz (Dr. Frank N. Furter), Matt Fear (Eddie), Douglas Dorsten (Rocky), Jim Dobbs (Dr. Scott), Michelle Baker (Usherette 1) and Rachel Warren (Usherette 2). Rounding out the cast are Paige Warner, Elizabeth Morgan, Maggie Carroll, Donovan Diaz, AJ Christensen and Phillip Terrell.

The Rocky Horror Show is directed by Kyle Pollio, choreographed by Whitney Havice, and orchestrated by Aaron Kaplan.

Tickets are available now at the CUTC office, online at www.canopyclub.com or by phone at 1-800-514-ETIX. Tickets are also available at Exile on Main Street, Manolo's Pizza & Empanadas and the Canopy Club. All tickets are $15 and general admission. No one under will be 18 admitted.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a 1975 British musical comedy film that parodies science fiction and B-movie horror films. It has gained an immense cult following, with attendees often dressing as characters in the film and participating as those characters during public viewings. The film is an adaptation of the British musical stage production The Rocky Horror Show written by Richard O'Brien.
