ARGUING WITH A QUADRIPLEGIC Closes, 8/12

Jim Fath, a Chicago-based writer and performer, has announced the debut his original one-man show, Arguing with a Quadriplegic, as part of the triple bill showcase Jim Paul Jet Paul at iO Chicago.

Comedian Jim Fath is not leaving Chicago without a fight...or a solo show where he fights with a quadriplegic. A 10 year veteran of stand up, sketch and improvisational comedy on the stage and screen, Fath's latest project touches on being thankful for those shameful moments in life that end up strangely helping you later on.

"The title Arguing with a Quadriplegic was inspired by a TV audition where I actually had to debate politics with another auditionee," explains Fath, "a quadriplegic man arguing for the second amendment. It was absolutely awful and I felt like a real jerk but it actually prepared me well for auditioning later on in my career."

Fath has made a name for himself in Chicago as one third of Hey You Millionaires, twice named the "Best Sketch Comedy Group in Chicago" by the Chicago Reader, and as a memorable contestant and now co-host in the comedy talent competition Impress These Apes. He's also performed and written shows with iO, The Annoyance, The Noble Fool, and many others. Before moving to Chicago, he worked with Second City Cleveland where he also taught improvisation and comedy writing. In 2006, his writing was featured in the book Look at my Striped Shirt: Confessions of the People you Love to Hate (Broadway Books).

Of his new work, Fath says, "I've strived to bring both personal material and relevant social comedy together so that it's never too much of either. You get to see a little bit of me and a little bit of what I see."
