CPCC Theatre Kicks Off 2018-2019 Season With BECKET

By:

CPCC Theatre will kick off its 2018-2019 season with Jean Anouilh's Tony Award winning play "Becket" on the renowned Halton Theater stage, located on the college's Central Campus.

"Becket" tells the troubled story of the relationship between Thomas à Becket and King Henry II of England and the classic clash between church and state. Set in England during the 12th century, a time of political and religious upheaval, "Becket" addresses multiple themes and ideas that remain relevant today - specifically love and hatred, resistance and collaboration, and church and state.

Although Becket begins the play as a man without honor, he closes the play as a man who dies to defend God's honor. It is as a martyr that Becket finds his place in history and the man behind the legend comes to life.
