The Belmont Theatre will present Rodgers & Hammerstein's classic musical SOUTH PACIFIC on the mainstage June 15-17 & 21-24.Friday, Saturday and the second Thursday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows are at 3:00 p.m.

Set in an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war. Nellie, a spunky nurse from Arkansas, falls in love with a mature French planter, Emile. Nellie learns that the mother of his children was an island native and, unable to turn her back on the prejudices with which she was raised, refuses Emile's proposal of marriage. Meanwhile, the strapping Lt. Joe Cable denies himself the fulfillment of a future with an innocent Tonkinese girl with whom he's fallen in love out of the same fears that haunt Nellie. When Emile is recruited to accompany Joe on a dangerous mission that claims Joe's life, Nellie realizes that life is too short not to seize her own chance for happiness, thus confronting and conquering her prejudices. Audiences will enjoy popular numbers including "There is Nothing Like a Dame, " "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Oughta My Hair," "Some Enchanted Evening," "Bali Hai," and more.

SOUTH PACIFIC is directed by The Belmont Theatre's Artistic Director Rene Staub. Vocal Direction is by Blythe Walker. Choreographer is Sarah Flynn. The LIVE Orchestra is under the direction of Abigail Kirkpatrick. The cast features Hillary Miller as Nellie Forbush, Christopher Quigley as Emile DeBecque, Vinny Beck as Lt. Joseph Cable, Tara Beitzle as Bloody Mary, and Wesley Hemmann as Luther Billis along with a cast of 30 nurses and sailors who will have you singing, dancing and laughing in the aisles.
