Hershey Area Playhouse Presents THE CUROUS SAVAGE

Hershey Area Playhouse is proud to present, The Curious Savage, a comedic play about Ethel P. Savage, an elderly woman whose husband recently died and left her approximately ten million dollars. Contrasting the kindness and loyalty of psychiatric patients with the avarice and vanity of "respectable" public figures, it calls into question conventional definitions of sanity while lampooning celebrity culture.

"I was fascinated by the text of the play, knowing that actors had actually learned the lines in it, becoming the characters which the playwright had imagined. What I learned from reading it was that a script became the road map, the guide, the key to becoming each specific character in a play," said Director Larry Sheaf. "I became fascinated with the story, the characters, and the message of this touching and moving play and knew some day that I wanted to be a part of bringing it to life, either as an actor or a director."

Bringing this story to life, the cast members of The Curious Savage include: Marcie Warner as Ethel Savage; Mike Barber as Titus Savage; Jack Ferry as Judge Samuel Savage; Kristi Hill as Fairy May; Lorie Kimmel as Lily Belle; Harry Menear as Dr. Emmett; JoEllen Myers as Mrs. Paddy; Mike Ritter as Jeffrey; Shelby Snyder as Miss Wilhelmina; Sarah Tapparo as Florence; and Daniel Walmer as Hannibal.

In addition to Sheaf, production staff members for The Curious Savage include: Nancy Parson, producer and set dresser; Paul Michel as stage manager; Patt Roth as assistant stage manager; Linda Pagliarulo and JoAnn Wallace as costumers; Carlton Hoke and Jeff Miller as set designers and builders; Carlton Hoke as artistic painter; Tim Banis as sound engineer; Dave Ebright as lighting designer; Mike Toth as backstage crew; Lisa Green as props; and Gaye Hicks and Becky Jenkins as dressers.

Experience the comedy of The Curious Savage, running October 5-8 and October 12-15, 2017. Thursday through Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday performances begin at 2 p.m.
