DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre's SEUSSICAL Begins Today

By:

DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre will be showcasing a larger-than-life production of Seussical starting today, October 9. This colorful, vibrant, high-energy show teaches the value of friendship, standing up for what you believe, celebrating our differences, and embracing your imagination. "These are all life lesson I believe in firmly," professes Paige Hoke, Guest Director for the show. Paige explains, "In this story, we take our audience on a wild ride through the many stories of Dr. Seuss , reinforcing these wonderful lessons as the journey progresses."

And what a journey it promises to be. Children will be enchanted by the characters, the vivid sets, and the magic. Adults will have fun recognizing some of their favorite Seuss stories, as well as picking up on some of the hidden humor in the script. The show is exciting, creative, spirited, and full of Dr. Seuss stories and characters.

Even the music is larger-than-life. It has a very different and unique style. This DreamWrights run of Seussical will feature a full pit orchestra. With a chuckle, Paige Hoke describes the music as "dynamic, quirky, and very Seuss-y." The big ensemble scenes and music virtually throughout entire the show make it a great one for people of all ages - a sensory wonderland.

Guest Director Paige Hoke first got involved with DreamWrights in 1999 when she was a young girl. After growing up participating in many shows at DreamWrights and at Central York High School, she decided to pursue a career in theatre. She received her BFA in Acting from Arcadia University. Since then, she has worked as an actor, teacher, writer, and director in theatre, first in Philadelphia, and then in the York area.

Notably, this is the second time Paige has directed Seussical . She also directed it at Bermudian Springs High School in March of this year where it was nominated for 13 Totem Pole Playhouse Awards and won for Best Featured Ensemble Actor, Best Chorus, Best Male Solo, and Best Musical. Totem Pole Playhouse Awards are presented annually for outstanding achievement in musical theater production and performances by high school students in Adams, Franklin, and Fulton counties.

With such Seussical success under her belt, Paige Hoke simply wants audiences to "have fun, embrace their weirdness, and always be creative and imaginative!" She reminds us of an important lesson that she learned from Dr. Seuss: "With hard work and believing in yourself, anything is possible!"

DreamWrights' Seussical opens October 9 at 6:30 and runs for 12 shows: October 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 & 24 - 6:30 pm and October 10, 11, 17, 18, 24 & 25 - 2:30 pm. Tickets may be purchased online at www.dreamwrights.org or by calling 717-848-8623. Seats cost $10 for general, $14 for reserved.
