Hosted by award winning songwriter Victoria Shaw, Under The Covers has become a favorite recurring highlight at Birdland, featuring a wide variety of top-selling songwriters and musical acts from across the pop, rock and country worlds, and offering intimate acoustic performances of huge hit songs - along with the little-known stories behind them. This event is part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series.

Already confirmed to join Shaw on Dec 3 at 7pm are award winning Singer/Songwriter/Author/Activist Chely Wright and award-winning singer/songwriter Gary Burr.

Platinum selling recording artist Chely Wright has had 8 top ten records on the Billboard charts, multiple music awards and #1 music videos. She has recently added "author" to her resume with her heart felt, honest biography WISH ME AWAY which chronicles her journey as the first major country music artist to reveal that she's gay. WISH ME AWAY is also the title of the film documentary about Chely that has garnered multiple awards this year at major movie festivals.

Gary Burr is the writer of 32 top forty hits, 24 top tens and 14 number ones. Burr’s career has spanned pop, country, and the Latin charts writing hits for everyone from Reba McEntyre to Ricky Martin. He has won numerous awards including and induction into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame. Burr is a frequent collaborator of Carole King and Ringo Starr, and is currently touring the country in the brand new trio Blue Sky Riders, featuring Burr, Georgia Middleman and Kenny Loggins.

Victoria Shaw is a pop/country songwriter responsible for over 65 million cd sales! As a singer, she had the great opportunity to open for Garth Brooks in the historic 1997 Central Park concert. Victoria also wrote one of Garth's biggest hits of all-time, "The River." The two-time Emmy Award-winning composer also wrote "I Love The Way You Love Me" for John Michael Montgomery and "Nobody Wants To Be Lonely" for Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera. Her songs have been recorded by Olivia Newton John, Boyzone, Faith Hill, LeAnn Rimes, Reba McEntyre, Tricia Yearwood, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Michael McDonald. She co-produced the debut cd for Lady Antebellum, which went gold, thanks to two hit singles, and was nominated for two Grammy Awards.
