The Laurie Beechman Theatre is very pleased to present Broadway, film and current star of ABC Television's Desperate Housewives, Emily Bergl, for two very special performances of her acclaimed cabaret show, Kidding on the Square. Ms Bergl will appear with her Musical Director, G. Scott Lacy, for two performances only: Tuesday, April 26th at 7pm, and Wednesday, April 27 @ 9:30pm. There is a $20 cover charge, as well as a $15 food/beverage minimum (a full dinner menu is available). The Laurie Beechman Theatre is located within The West Bank Cafe at 407 West 42nd St., in the heart of New York's Theatre district. For reservations, which are necessary, please call 212 695 6909. Kidding on the Square is an evening of old fashioned love songs with a twist, a journey that takes the audience on a roaring 20's ride through love, heartbreak and everything in between. The show revolves around classic songs from the 1920's and 30's, but also presents vintage retakes on modern favorites from Lily Allen to Madonna. "My cabaret is from an actor's perspective. I'm not interested in just singing pretty standards at the piano," explains Ms. Bergl. "I wanted to develop a complete piece with an arc and different characters: an evening of songs that are stories. At the end of the day, it's all about entertaining people."

Ms. Bergl recently appeared on the New York stage in Second Stage's production of Becky Shaw, which was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize. In addition to her current work on Desperate Housewives, she can also be seen on TNT's Southland. She is also a passionate volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, and has built houses in Thailand, Borneo, Mississippi and Washington DC. In November, she will build alongside President and Roslyn Carter in Haiti as part of the Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter Work Project.
