SONGS AT THE NEW WORLD Open Mic Comes to the Green Room at New World Stages
"No song unsung, no wine untasted." That's the philosophy behind Songs at the New World, a monthly open mic night that presents its first Songwriter Spotlight on Friday 4/27/18 at 10:30pm at New World Stages. Described as "a boozy, belting bash," the evening is hosted by Colleen Harris and Lindsay Morgan, with music direction by Joshua Stephen Kartes and resident music director Will TN Hall.
Featured songwriters include Will TN Hall, Maria Gentile, Peter Saxe, David Auxier-Loyola, Kiet Tai Cao, and Jeff Thomson. Additional writers are encouraged to attend and showcase their work. An open mic will follow the showcase.
Started in 2007 by Colleen Harris, Songs at the New World has been fostering up-and-coming talent in the heart of the theater district for ten years. Each month, undiscovered talent shares the stage with casts and crews of the shows at New World Stages, as well as composers, Broadway veterans, and musical theater enthusiasts.
The show begins at 10:30pm. You must be 21 or over to enter. There is no cover charge, but a 2 drink minimum is required.
The Green Room at New World Stages is located at 340 W 50th St.
