What started out as a simple schoolgirl crush has now grown into a serious passion of the highest order for the multi-award winning Rosemary Loar. For only four performances, she brings her new show Sting, Stang, Stung: Swingin' The Music of Sting! to the Metropolitan Room at Gotham on four dates in January and February where she will sing the songs of pop legend Sting.

"I'm both inspired and intellectually stimulated by Sting's words and music," says Ms. Loar, who is the recipient of numerous accolades, including the coveted ASCAPlus Award for Popular Music for the past six years. She conceived, directed and starred in the wildly popular The Alternative Torch series at Symphony Space from 2004-2006. As a recording artist, she can be heard on Sting's soundtrack for the movie The Emperor's New Groove, the cast albums of Chess and Sunset Boulevard and on The Listening Library Series. The release of her fourth album, The Quando Swing, celebrated her return to her cabaret/jazz roots and has been met with critical acclaim.

Writing in After Dark, John Hoglund said, "There is a very emotional core to her interpretations. She performs with a zest that is thrilling and captivating on many levels. It's hard not to be impressed with one so attractive and brimming over with talent." The shows will include many of Sting's most popular songs, such as "Fields Of Gold," "Moon Over Bourbon Street," "Englishman In New York," "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take."

Renowned jazz artist/pianist and arranger Frank Ponzio will serve as musical director and Vito Lesczak will be on drums. Both gentlemen recently collaborated on the well received recording of The Kurt Weill Project. Completing the trio will be respected jazz bassist Mark E. Peterson, who is currently associate conductor for Cirque du Soleil's Wintuk and has toured extensively with top-notch musicians. This limited engagement promises to be a major event at the Metropolitan Room by a consummate singing artist and a world renowned trio.

Ms. Loar's extensive musical theater credits include a critically acclaimed turn as Grizabella in Cats, Sunset Boulevard (with Glenn Close), You Can't Take It With You, and Chess, as well as Once Upon A Mattress with Sarah Jessica Parker.
