Robert Creighton to Perform at Metropolitan Room, 2/12

Broadway's Robert Creighton celebrates the February 14 release of his debut CD, "Ain't We got Fun!" (LML Music), with two performances at New York City's Metropolitan Room, February 12 and 13 at 9:30pm. Creighton has appeared in a non-stop string of six Broadway shows, including, currently, as the Purser in Anything Goes. Fellow cast member Joel Grey appears on "Ain't We Got Fun!" singing "Give My Regards To Broadway". On both nights, a five piece band and special guests will appear with Creighton to celebrate the occasion. The Metropolitan Room is located at: 34 West 22nd Street, NYC. The album repertoire is largely from the early decades of the 20th Century, music Creighton discovered while researching his award-winning new musical CAGNEY! The recording also features two Creighton originals from that show. "Ain't We Got Fun" was produced and arranged by musical director and orchestrator, Georgia Stitt, known for her work on Broadway (Avenue Q, Sweet Smell of Success, The Music Man) and television (America's Got Talent). Ms. Stitt gave the sound an authentic and vintage feel, with a variety of instrumentation including brass, strings and a touch of kazoo and lip trumpet skillfully rendered by Robert Creighton. In addition to Joel Grey, Kate Baldwin, Heidi Blickenstaff and Tituss Burgess all make appearances on the disc.

Creighton hails from tiny Walkerton, Ontario, Canada. He began singing as a child in the St. Michael's Boys Choir and performing in musicals with the Grey-Wellington Theatre Guild while in high school. He received a degree in vocal performance from Wilfrid Laurier University and then attended New York's American Academy of Dramatic Arts. Immediately after graduation, he was cast in S.N. Behrman's End of Summer with The Phoenix Theatre Co. Many roles at Goodspeed, Paper Mill Playhouse, Cincinnati Playhouse and other regional theaters followed, as well as several national tours. He performed two seasons with the New York City Opera including as Njegus in the Live From Lincoln Center production of The Merry Widow. Broadway welcomed him in 2003 when he was cast in Jackie Mason's Laughing Room Only. Since then, he has appeared in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Little Mermaid (Chef Louis), Lion King (Timon), and Chicago (Amos) and now Anything Goes.

CAGNEY!, co-authored with Peter Colley and Christopher McGovern, had its World Premiere at Florida Stage in March 2009. It went on to win the prestigious Carbonell Award for Best New Work. (www.Cagneythemusical.com)
