Rebekah Allen and Broadway's Badass Ladies to Bring Original Tunes to Joe's Pub

By:

Musical Theatre Factory, under the direction of Founding Artistic Director, Shakina Nayfack, has announced that it will feature the musical theater writer with a pop/punk edge Rebekah M. Allen in its all-female evening of original music featuring some of Broadway's most badass ladies.

In conjunction with Musical Theatre Factory, Rebekah will be joined by her collaborators, director Michael Bello and music director Patrik Sulken, from the Ovation Award-winning world premiere of WE ARE THE TIGERS, and music director/orchestrator Max Gordon, to present a selection of work from the cheerleader murder mystery musical, as well as songs from her cult concert THE RAGE: CARRIE 2, AN UNAUTHORIZED PARODY, her latest piece REMISSION, and new songs from future projects. Come for the belting, stay to crush the patriarchy.

The concert is set for May 22nd at 7pm at the Joe's Pub, 425 Lafayette Street. Tickets are $20 to $30 and can be purchased at www.publictheater.org/reserve/index.aspx?performanceNumber=34582.

The evening's Music & Lyrics are by Rebekah M. Allen. Director: Michael Bello. Music Direction is by Max Gordon and Patrick Sulken. Orchestrations are by Max Gordon, Patrick Sulken, and Matt Aument.

The evening's lineup includes Jenny Rose Baker (Fiddler On The Roof), Lauren Nicole Chapman (Kinky Boots), Alysha Deslorieux (Hamilton, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Julie Ann Earls (Puffs), Latoya Edwards, Kristian Espiritu (Here Lies Love), Felicia Finley (The Wedding Singer, Mamma Mia!), Kaitlyn Frank (Newsies), OriAnna Hilliard, Melissa Rose Hirsch, Kathryn Gallagher (Spring Awakening), Sarah Beth Pfeifer (The Lightning Thief), Celeste Rose, Kristin Stokes (The Lightning Thief), Kalyn West (Gigantic), Chelsea Williams (In Transit, Mamma Mia!), and Remy Zaken (Spring Awakening).

Musical Theatre Factory was founded by Artistic Director Shakina Nayfack in January 2014 as a collective for early-career musicaltheatre makers interested in changing the way new musicals are developed in New York City. The mission of the Factory is to develop and present new Musical Theatre Works in a collaborative environment free from the pressures of critical or commercial success. With a focus on peer-evaluation and process-driven volunteer support, MTF's assembly line of development programming directly addresses the needs of today's musical theatre artists and is intended to nurture new work from initial concepts to full drafts and, occasionally, first productions.

In its first two years MTF has assisted in the development of over 90 new musicals with more than 900 volunteers contributing over 16,000 combined hours of service. The organization has partnered with a number of other theatre companies throughout NYC, including Joe's Pub at The Public Theatre, The People's Improv Theatre, Poetic Theatre Productions, and Playwrights Horizons, where they will begin a three-year residency this coming fall.

MTF members include some oftoday's most exciting composers, lyricists, book writers, directors, choreographers, music directors, dramaturgs, performers, and arts administrators. The organization is overseen by General Managers Frankie Dailey and Joey Monda, with Creative Producer Aaron Glick serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
