Photo Coverage: Hinton Battle Performs SOMETHING NEW at 54 Below
On Tuesday June 3, Hinton Battle unveiled a new chapter in his career when 54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club presented SOMETHING NEW, a performance introducing his soon to be released new CD, by the same name. With his unique take on classic tunes, Battle pays tribute to the genius of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, and Miles Davis and honors the memory of some of his dance contemporaries and legendary tap dancers that have influenced his career.
Fresh from a sold-out tour of Japan, with a show he conceived, directed, and choreographed titled, Hinton Battle American Variety Bang II, he is now eager to get back to performing before a live New York audience. And what better way to kick-off his return, but at 54 Below with a signature event that highlights his vocal versatility. Hinton is joined by musicians Lee Pearson (Spyro Gyra) on drums, Terry Brewer on piano, Romeir Mendez on Bass and tap dancer Choloe Arnold (Syncopated Ladies).
