Jenna Esposito Takes Over For Joe Bachana As Host Of MetroJam 6/5 At Met Room

On Friday June 5th at 10pm, the singer Jenna Esposito takes over for Joe Bachana as the host of MetroJam, the Metropolitan Room's monthly open mic jazz variety show.

Hitting on the first Friday of every month, MetroJam premiered in 2007 and quickly established itself as one of the city's most hospitable and nurturing talent incubators.

The innovative concept allows singers of all stripes, persuasions and backgrounds to drop in as soloists backed by a full jazz band that evolves and grows in size as the night progresses. Because of its open door policy for singers (and emphasis on quality players for the band), this open mic show has become a favorite stop for singers and instrumentalists alike.

In the course of MetroJam's two-year run, numerous big-name jazz and cabaret vocalists have rubbed elbows with younger, less seasoned singers, creating a dynamic, surprise-filled atmosphere.

Esposito, a two-time MAC Award nominee for Best Female Vocalist, says she is happy to spell singer-pianist Joe Bachana in being the face of the MetroJam franchise. "I'm not going to tamper with Joe's winning formula," Esposito promises, "I'm going to try to add to it. One thing I'm planning is to book a different surprise-guest headliner every month. This just makes the mix of entertainment as exciting and unexpected as possible."

MetroJam plays the first Friday of every month at 10pm. The cover charge is $10, with a two-drink minimum.
