Edna Wright & The HoneyCone to Perform at Iridium, 10/4
ScoBar Entertainment will present Edna Wright & The HoneyCone for one show only, on Sunday, October 4th at 8pm at Iridium.
The HoneyCone was formed in 1969, by lead singer Edna Wright, with Carolyn Willis & Shelly Clark. These three dynamic ladies, with a unique blend of style & talent, came together to form one of the top recording groups of all time. Touring throughout the US & Europe, The HoneyCone consistently topped the charts with such classics as "Want Ads," "Stick Up" & "One Monkey Don't stop no show. As artists under the Invictus/Hot Wax label, the seductive & exciting ensemble sold over eight million records.
The first act signed by the label, the members had all worked with other groups; Wright with the gospel group, The Cogics, Willis with The Girlfriends & Clark with The Ikettes. Wright & Willis were also part-time members of The Blossoms. The three started singing together & were spirited away by Holland-Dozier-Holland, who named the act "HoneyCone," for his favorite flavor of ice cream. Their release "Want Ads," proved to be their biggest success, topping both the R&B & pop charts, selling over a million copies. The rest, as they, is history.
With a career that has spanned over 50 years, Edna began singing in LA with a group that included Andrae Crouch & Billy Preston & performs with April Molina & her daughter, Melodye Perry, billed as Edna Wright & The HoneyCone. They have appeared with Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Annie Lennox, Joan Rivers, The Temptations & Darlene Love in such venues as The Rrazz Room in San Francisco & The Apollo & BB King's in New York City. The recent release of their greatest hits on CD, is available world-wide.
