Tom Cruise Wants to 'Sing Out' for the Big Screen

Film superstar and Golden Globe award nominee Tom Cruise made a return visit to ABC's popular talk show "The View" today to promote his new film "Valkyrie."

The screen star had movie musicals on his mind during the appearance and wasn't shy about expressing his desire to sing on the big screem.

When asked by Barbara Walters if he did ever want to do a musical, Tom replied "I'd like to try one, yeah. I'd like to see someone find the right movie musical for me. I'd like to see if I could do it. it's something I haven't done. I might fall flat on my face though. I like the sort of challenge."

When asked if he would do it on Broadway, he replied "I like to make movies."

While the hosts threw out ideas like Rex Harrison parts, Tom professed his love for Chicago noting that "Chicago was a great movie, great cast, good numbers. "

Mr. Cruise spoke publicly for the first time about the death and swirling rumors connected to 16-year-old Jett Travolta, the son of his friend and colleague John Travolta.

Mr. Cruise also discussed his motion picture career and his starring role in the new film "Valkyrie," his plans for Sunday's Golden Globe awards, his wife Katie Holmes' closing night on Broadway, his family and children and how they celebrated Christmas and New Year's Eve.

"The View" is hosted by Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Sherri Shepherd. The Tom Cruise interview at ABC Studios in New York City and aired today, Friday, Jan. 9 @ 11:00 AM, ET on ABC.
