THE HELP Leads Nominations of 43rd ANNUAL NAACP IMAGE AWARDS

The NAACP has announced the list of nominees for 43rd Annual Image Awards. THE HELP, The adaptation of Kathryn Stockett's best-selling novel about black maids speaking out about their white employers during the civil-rights movement led the way with a total of eight nominations. Other contenders for 'Outstanding Motion Picture' are  "Jumping the Broom," "Pariah," "The First Grader" and "Tower Heist."

ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy' and the football comedy 'The Game' led in the TV category with a total of six nominations each. In the music category, recording artists Beyonce and Jill Scott each received four nominations. They will compete against fellow singers Jennifer Hudson, Ledisi and Mary J. Blige in the category of 'Outstanding Female Artist'. 

The NAACP Image Awards is the nation's premier event celebrating the outstanding achievements and performances of people of color in the arts (television, recording, literature, motion picture and writing & directing), as well as those individuals or groups who promote social justice through their creative endeavors.

The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People's Image Awards honor diversity in the arts and will be presented February 17th on NBC.
