Susan Boyle Threatens to Quit 'TALENT' As Pressure Builds

The UK Sun reports that Britain's Got Talent songster Susan Boyle has threatened to quit the show - because she can't handle the pressures of fame. The 48-year-old singer is struggling to cope with life in the public eye and publicly went into meltdown twice this week reveals the Sun, launching four-letter rants at cops and fellow contestants' families. Boyle was interviewed by police yesterday after she went beserk in the lobby of north London's Wembley Plaza Hotel at two strangers she claimed were out to "wind her up".

One of the show's judges, Piers Morgan, said Boyle was under a great deal of pressure. "You could see the nerves almost crippling her on the semifinal show, and I just think it's time that everyone slightly backed off," he said in an interview on the LBC 97.3 radio station Thursday.

He added, "Susan is finding it very, very difficult to cope, and to stay calm. She has been in tears many times during the last few days, and even, fleetingly, felt like quitting the show altogether at one point and fleeing all the attention."

Despite her emotional outbursts, Piers insists Susan is simply a "lively, feisty character, and a wonderfully eccentric sense of humor". To read the full UK Sun article click here.

The Scottish singing star, who suffered learning difficulties as a child and was bullied by other children, is the overwhelming favorite in Saturday's Britain's Got Talent finals. The show is expected to draw millions of viewers in Britain, where it will be broadcast live.

Boyle stunned and charmed tens of millions of viewers last month, when judges skeptical about her dowdy image were won over by her soaring voice and confident performance. Nearly six weeks after her performance of "I Dreamed a Dream" from the musical "Les Miserables," Boyle performed live on the televised semifinal of the competition. She performed "Memory" and the crowd went wild when she belted out during the final bars of the song.

CATS is an award-winning musical composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats and other poems by T. S. Eliot. The show has been performed around the world in numeroUs Productions and has been translated into more than 20 languages.

The turbulent trio of Simon Cowell, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden once again preside over the judging panel. They may bicker, they may snigger... but their manicured hands are always wickedly poised by their buzzers to puncture long-held ambitions in a splice.
