According to TV Line, the Showtime comedy drama WEEDS will be returning for an eighth season. While the network hints that it would treat an eighth season as the show's last, there is a possibility of a ninth season as well, TV Line reports.

Mary-Louise Parker stars as Nany Botwin on the long running Showtime series.  She plays a single mother who begins dealing marijuana in order to support her upper middle-class lifestyle.

Parker's co-star Justin Kirk (Andy) had previously denied that the seventh season of Weeds would be the show's last, while Hunter Parrish (Silas), who is currently starring on Broadway in the revival of GODSPELL, hoped that the show might continue on as well.

The latest season of WEEDS concluded on September 26.
