Outside Television has issued the following statement on the passing of adventure icon Erik Roner:

It is with great sorrow that Outside Television mourns the loss of one of its own. Adventure icon Erik Roner died today in a parachuting accident in Squaw Valley, CA. Roner was part of the Outside Television family as the host of the network's Locals series, where he traveled the world sharing with Outside Television viewers the hidden gems of outdoor communities not revealed in guidebooks.

"There are no words that can express this tremendous loss to the Outside Television family. Erik was not only a colleague, but also a personal friend, and it was a joy to watch him celebrate life on a daily basis. We are still trying to process this tragedy," said Rob Faris, Senior VP, Programming and Production at Outside Television. "Our hearts go out to his family."

In honor of Roner, Outside Television will air Locals today, Tuesday, Sept. 29, from 7:00pm ET through 11:00pm ET.
