Michael Cienfuegos Heads to LA Film Festival in New Comedy FAT CAMP
Actor Michael Cienfuegos leads the laughter and the campers starring in the new comedy feature film, FAT CAMP. The indie film will make its World Premiere at the LA Film Festival on June 21st, an annual event organized by Film Independent and held at the ArcLight Cinemas in Hollywood.
Directed by Jennifer Arnold from a script penned by Chuck Hayward, FAT CAMP follows the immature fitness fanatic Hutch Daily (Chris Redd). To avoid being kicked out of his mom's (Vivica Fox) house, Hutch agrees to work at his uncle's (Mel Rodriguez) fat camp for the summer. Cienfuegos steps into the storyline as Charlie Soto, a sweet and slightly nerdy rule abiding Counselor-in-Training under Hutch. Together, this odd duo must supervise an irreverent group of chunky boys on their weight-loss journey. What they discover along the way is their own compassion and self-confidence, which ultimately helps them all to grow up.
Cienfuegos was excited at the opportunity to join the project, adding, "This cast and crew is so amazingly talented and funny. The production companies focus was to shine light on diversity in Hollywood films and we all took pride in being apart of that. Working with them is one of those experiences you hope to have in your lifetime. I can't wait for people to see how much fun we had making this movie!"
Originally from Chandler, Arizona, Cienfuegos left the desert for the Big Apple to study at the esteemed New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. After graduating, this young Latino talent made his way to Los Angeles. Before landing the role in Fat Camp, Cienfuegos made his network television debut on Showtime's celebrated series Shameless and appeared in a few indie projects. In addition to his on-camera pursuits, Cienfuegos is a rising stand-up comic on the local scene, sharing his fresh perspective through comedy observations and stories.
