According to the Hollywood Reporter, Comedy Central has just renewed its animated series SOUTH PARK for another three seasons, which will keep it on the air through 2016.

The show is from writers Trey Parker and Matt Stone whose Broadway smash hit, 'Book of Mormon' won the Tony Award for Best Musical last June. SOUTH PARK is currently in its 20th season, making it the cable channel's longest running animated series. It premiered on Comedy Central in August of 1997. Parker and Stone act as writers, directors and editors of each episode of the show.

Michele Ganeless, president of Comedy Central commented, "The collective genius of Matt and Trey knows no bounds. Week after week and season after season they continue to surprise and delight South Park fans, and that includes all of us here at Comedy Central. We're thrilled that the adventures of Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman will continue through 2016."
