Cinema Audio Society Taps Doug McIntyre to Host 50th CAS Awards Tonight

The Cinema Audio Society announced that Doug McIntyre has been tapped to serve as host of the upcoming 50th CAS Awards.

"I am a huge a fan of McIntyre In The Morning and I enjoy Doug's sense of humor and perspective," said CAS President David Fluhr. "I know he will keep our show moving with grace and humor".

McIntyre is the host of McIntyre In The Morning on KABC 790 Los Angeles, and is a page one columnist for the Los Angeles Daily News. McIntyre's background includes work as a television writer-producer with credits including Married... with Children, WKRP in Cincinnati, Full House, Mike Hammer and the critically acclaimed PBS series, Liberty's Kids, which earned McIntyre a Humanitas Prize nomination.

With his wife, actress Penny Peyser, McIntyre wrote, produced and directed the feature documentary film, Trying to Get Good: The Jazz Odyssey of Jack Sheldon, released in 2008. The film won Jury Prizes at the Newport Beach Film Festival and at The Kansas City Film Makers Jubilee, and won Audience Prizes at Newport Beach and the Indianapolis International Film Festival. It also won an audience prize at the prestigious Nashville International Film Festival.

The 50th CAS Awards will be held on February 22nd in the Crystal Ballroom of the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles. Besides Technical Achievement Awards for Production and Post-production, Awards for Outstanding Achievements in Sound Mixing in six categories as well as two technical categories will be presented at the event. During the Awards special honors will go to Andy Nelson as the CAS Career Achievement Honoree and the CAS Filmmaker Award will be presented to Edward Zwick.
