CBS's FACE THE NATION Finishes First in Viewers

CBS News' FACE THE NATION is the #1 Sunday morning public affairs program, finishing first in viewers (3.95m) and tying for first in adults 25-54 (0.7/04) - the demographic most important to those who advertise in news - according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings on May 31. The broadcast beat its closest competitor by more than a million viewers. FACE THE NATION posted its largest audience since Jan. 18, 2015. Nearly four million viewers tune in for Bob Schieffer's final broadcast as anchor of FACE THE NATION. Editor's Note: FACE THE NATION's second half-hour was broadcast contiguously across 76.3% of the CBS affiliates.

Compared to the same day last year, FACE THE NATION is up +52% in viewers (from 2.60m) and +40% in adults 25-54 (from 0.5/03). Television year-to-date, FACE THE NATION is first in viewers (3.44m) and adults 25-54 (0.8/04). Compared to last year, FACE THE NATION is up +6% in viewers (from 3.24m) and even in adults 25-54.

The May 31 broadcast featured interviews with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and CIA Director John Brennan. FACE THE NATION's panel of analysts included Peggy Noonan of Wall Street Journal; Dan Balz of The Washington Post; David Ignatius of The Washington Post and CBS News' John Dickerson. Host Bob Schieffer did his final commentary and said a special goodbye as he hosted his last FACE THE NATION. Mary Hager is the Executive Producer of the Emmy-award winning FACE THE NATION, one of the longest-running news programs in the history of television.
