Grammy winner Barry White posthumously received the 2,506th star on Thursday, September 12 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

The singer's wife, Glodean, and Motown founder Berry Gordy accepted the star on his behalf at Thursday's ceremony. "His music will be with us forever and a day -- past all of our lifetimes," she shared.

White died in 2003 in Los Angeles of complications due to kidney failure at the age of 58.

Known for his distinctive bass voice and romantic image, White's greatest success came in the 1970s as a solo singer and with the Love Unlimited Orchestra, crafting many enduring soul, funk, and discosongs such as his two biggest hits, "You're the First, the Last, My Everything" and "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe." Along with Isaac Hayes, White is considered by Allmusic.com as a pioneer of disco music in the early 1970s.

During the course of his career in the music business, White achieved 106 gold albums worldwide, 41 of which also attained platinum status. White had 20 gold and 10 platinum singles, with worldwide sales in excess of 100 million
