Ann Curry returned to NBC's TODAY show this morning for the first time since she was let go from her co-hosting position on the show last June. The newswoman appeared during the show's second hour for a four-minute segment that featured Getty Images chief photographer Adam Pretty.

In an awkward exchange, Today's Matt Lauer attempted a polite welcome, telling Curry, "nice to see you" at the segment's opening and "good to see you" at the close. A disinterested Curry held her sentiments to a minimum replying cooly, "Good morning, Matt."

Curry was let go from her post on Today back in June when ABC's 'Good Morning America' began a ratings surge with its popular co-anchor team of Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos at the helm. GMA beat Today in the ratings for several weeks in the spring and has continued to do well against the competition.

NBC legal expert Savannah Guthrie took over as co-host of Today while the network namEd Curry a NBC News foreign correspondent.
